Does Your Weekend Plan Involve Weight Gain? Grab Your Weekend Surivial Guide NOW

It's the weekend!!!  This is when most people tend to "fall off the wagon" let loose, let go and life live by treating Friday-Sunday as a three day free for all when it comes to their healthy lifestyle.  Their clean eating, exercising program that has been spotless all week, tends to take a mini break until Monday. Unfortunately those 3 days of letting your hair down and cutting up can lead to weight gain.  The good news is it can be avoided without you feeling deprived, isolated and frustrated.   You can truly enjoy your weekend, living healthy without feeling guilty on Monday morning.  Here is your challenge for the weekend to help you stay on the straight and narrow road: HOW DO YOU PLAN ON WEARING YOUR HAIR THIS WEEKEND? NO, I'm not asking how you are going to style your hair, I am asking what are your plans for the weekend? Do you have any when it comes to your weight loss journey? or you figure you will just wing it?

When I first started my weight loss journey, I was super duper focused during the week, nothing or no one could interrupt my flow to loss the excess pounds and live the life I envisioned for my body. Unfortunately, that was not the case during the weekends. During the weekends, I would let me hair down, went with the flow, allowing other peoples bad eating habits to become my own. I didn't plan, I ate whatever and just "chilled" because after all I deserved it right?  The frustration, anger and name calling happened every Monday morning when I stepped on the scale and faced my weekend sins.  After becoming tired of always starting over on Mondays, I decided to view my 3 days as a continuation of my healthy living lifestyle during the week. I realized that when I wore my hair down (so to speak) I flowed with the wind, with no plan no direction, so I decided if I was to become a success story I had to tighten up and start wearing my hair up (so to speak).  I started to plan my meals, exercise and treated the weekends like another day on my journey.  It wasn't a pass to eat like crap but part of the life that I so badly wanted to create for myself.  I tackled my goals, handled my business, remained consistent and viola—> struggle FREE RESULTS.

In the spirit of preparedness, here is a weekend survival guide to help you "keep our hair up"

The "Weekend Survival Guide" is designed to help your healthy lifestlye survive those dreaded weekends. Print out this list and keep it with you wherever you go. The checklist and helpful tips will keep you focused and on track. Always remember to check with yourself, be present in your own body.  when you start feeling the temptation to slip and go with the "flow" ask yourself how you will feel about your decisions once Monday morning rolls around.

  1. Enjoy your family and plan some activities together. Remember mom's this is NOT a mommy project, do not create a  diet program just for you. Create a healthy lifestyle that will surpass your skinny jeans goals and include your entire family.  This is your #1 way of sticking with your program.
  2. Find a cute water bottle and carry it with you to your weekend activities. This will definitely help you get in all of your water and help you resist the temptation to drink soda or other caffeinated beverage.
  3. Goal setting is critical, make sure you set weekend specific goals for yourself that addresses your weekend activities.  Your weekend goals might look very different than your weekday goals, but that's okay, just get focus and set your goals.
  4. Back your bag with healthy snacks. Avoid the trap of being hungry at the mall or your child's weekend activities. Last thing you want is to reach for ice cream, cookies, pizza because you failed to plan, be prepared.
  5. Set Monday as your weigh-in day. You are more likely to resist temptation if you have to face the scale first thing Monday morning.
  6. Plan ahead!! If you are planning to eat out this weekend, go online and find the restaurant's menu.  Set your intentions and stick with them.
  7. Don't save all of your splurging for the weekends. Allowing yourself a few treats throughout the week is not only smart but will help you avoid the mindset that the weekend is an excuse to let your hair down. And by spacing your treats evenly, you're less likely to get sudden, irresistible cravings.w

With a little extra effort and planning, you can turn weekends into an enjoyable experience and an opportunity to keep your program moving in the right direction!
