My Journey of Weight Release and Self Discovery

Lately I have been getting a lot of questions from women asking me how I am manage to look young, keep the weight off while caring for my family, working full time and being an entrepreneur.  Since October 31, 2012 will make 9 years since I made the commitment to myself, I decided to share my story, show you that I am a normal, everyday, hardworking woman just like you, who discovered the path to achieving an extraordinary weight loss goal.

But before I share who I am, and why I am passionate about helping women get to the “why” of their weight here is a what I gave up in return for weight gain.

  • I didn’t value myself care
  • I placed myself aside so I could take care of others
  • I lost sight of who I was

My story might be similar to yours.  I’m a mom, I’m a wife, I have 3 kids.  About 9 years ago, I found myself at rock bottom. After the birth of my third child, I was tipping the scale at a little over 200lbs.  I still cannot believe that’s me when I look at the picture of me holding daughters, I was actually in Florida visiting my parents and I was so unhappy, so, so unhappy.  I remembered when my dad took this picture of me and every time I think about it, it brings tears to my eyes because I didn’t know who I was, I was truly lost in my own body.  After my dad took this picture and several others, he never gave them to me; it was almost as if he was protecting me from the pain he saw in my eyes when he took that picture.

 

Let me be the first to tell you that carrying 200+ pounds on a 5’3 body was extremely painful and I’m not talking about joint pain, I’m talking about PAIN, the getting up and trying to find clothes to go to work pain; the exhausted, overweight, frustrated and EXTREMELY ashamed of my appearance pain; the kind of pain that no one knows but you because on the outside you looked super duper confident while inside you are looking for a solution.

I was unhappy with the way I looked; I was depressed, I felt lost, I didn’t recognize my body.  I felt helpless but desperately wanted to make a change. I didn’t know where to start or knew how to start. Like most women, I was juggling home, career, 3 active children and I was tired all the time. I didn’t have time to exercise, didn’t have time to eat healthy but knew I wanted to make a change, if not for myself, for my children.  After failing miserable from quick fix diet programs, magic pills, potions, over-exercising, starving myself, and everything else to get the weight off, I decided to get off the diet roller coaster and find real solutions once and for all. 

 

Here is what happened

 

In October 2003, I found myself staring at three huge empty bags of Halloween candy which belonged to my children. Without realizing it, I had eaten every single Kit Kat, Tootise Rolls,  M& M's (plain and peanut), Reese Pieces, you name it and I stuffed my face with it.  I ate practically all the candy, After my chocolate binge was over, something clicked inside me, I got up and for the first time, I looked at myself in the mirror I said “Ange you cannot  live like this” I remember I was in my birthday suite, I was naked, I was raw, I could see everything, everything.  I saw the hurt, I saw what was going on with me and didn’t want to face but instead was using food as an escape whether I wanted to admit it or not.   I took one hard look in the mirror and I told myself ENOUGH.  

 

I made a promise to myself and vowed that I would figure out a way to reclaim my body, my life and become the sassy,  sexy mommy I knew was hiding inside of me.   I went on a journey of self-discovery and had a major breakthrough on what was holding me back from releasing the weight and the reasons why my body was out of balance.    I discovered that the weight was not the problem, but only a symptom.  I was not connected to my mind, body, and spirit.  Once connected with my true essence, I began to embrace my life holistically and released over 50 pounds.

 

If you are struggling with your weight, you know it goes much deeper than just finding the right diet or exercise program because if it was, everyone would be walking around in their ideal body right now.   If you are serious about changing your body, you have to become crystal clear of what’s holding you back.    Through my journey, I learned the real secrets to changing your outer body has to start with your inner body and that is what I passionately teach my clients to do.
